Curriculum
Primary Section
The Primary School consists of Grades I to V and admits children aged five and a
half years and above. Though the emphasis at this stage is more on language development
and social skills, the following subjects are also taught, though in a manner far
from formal.
- English Language & Literature
- Environmental Education
- Mathematics
- Computer Science
- Social Studies
- Value Education
- General Knowledge
- Physical Education
- Hindi
- Art & Craft
- Music & Dance
The Primary School is equipped with its own computer and science lab, commonly referred
to as the Resource Centre.
The class strength is kept small to facilitate individual attention. The essential
foundation for sound education is laid at this stage and the class teacher plays
a critical role in moulding the child's intellectual skills and attitude by being
an academic guide, personal friend and mentor.
Secondary Section
The Secondary Section comprises of Grades VI to XII. Although the class teacher
is still very important at this stage, specialist teachers are brought in to prepare
children to take on the rigours of individual subjects. At Grade VIII, students
are required to opt for the ICSE board or the GCE board.
ICSE and GCE 'O' level examinations are taken at the end of Grade X and the ISC
examination at the end of Grade XII. The ICSE, ISC and the GCE 'O' level examinations
are common external examinations. The ICSE and ISC examinations are conducted nationwide
by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi, and the
GCE 'O' Level examination by the University of Cambridge, Local Examinations Syndicate,
U.K.

All subjects for the ISC examinations are taken at the same level, namely the university
entrance level. In addition to the above, satisfactory completion of SUPW (Socially
Useful Productive Work, i.e. community service prescribed or approved by the school)
is essential to award a pass certificate at the ICSE and the ISC examinations.
GCE ‘A’ Level:
The General Certificate of education (Advanced Level or ‘A’ Level) is the ‘gold
standard’ of CIF qualifications. It has exactly the same value in admitting students
to all universities as its UK equivalent. It is also accepted as an entry qualification
by universities of the European Union, as they are considered equal to qualifications
such as the French Baccalaureate or the German Abitur.
Good ‘A’ level grades can be a key to admission to all the world’s major Anglophone
universities. University course credits and advanced standing is often available
in countries such as USA and Canada, where entrance to a university takes place
after 12 years of education. Good grades in carefully chosen ‘A’ level subjects
can result in up to one full year of credit.
